Balenciaga has been bringing its A-game with innovative designs. After unveiling its previous collection via a video game, its latest capsule collection glows in the dark. The luxury fashion house previously teased the luminous collection early in March on its Instagram account.
Creative director Demna Gvasalia designed T-shirts, pool slides, baseball caps and socks that glow after being activated with any light source. The designs are filled with glowing logos such as the new lions-and-laurels double B and a familiar motif: the smiley.
The collection is the latest attempt of fashion brands blending luxury wear with cultural symbols following Bottega Veneta. While these logos are part of the new collection, the signature Balenciaga logo still appears on the tops.
Since the designs only glow at night, it’s the perfect at-home outfit for those looking for quarantine-friendly styles while hosting Zoom parties and other virtual celebrations. The collection is certainly a far cry from the athleisure brands that many have been most people’s go-to wear these days. But these glow-in-the-dark pieces surely brings a little more glow to our style during this pandemic.
