Dior’s beauty look at Paris Fashion Week had total Brigitte Bardot vibes

Dior’s beauty look at Paris Fashion Week was an homage to French actress Brigitte Bardot with a touch of Axl Rose thrown in.

The Autumn/Winter 2020 show took place at Paris’ Jardins des Tuileries to an audience that included Demi Moore, Andie MacDowell and Karlie Kloss.

Beneath illuminated slogans that read ‘Feminine Beauty Is Ready-Made’ and ‘Women’s Love Is Unpaid Labour’ and ‘Consent’, the models walked a muted and sombre collection.

Even though colour was downplayed, the suiting and slim lines of the fashion shown was a triumph of edgy femininity.

The beauty look was a masterpiece and the best we’ve seen thus far at the round of Fashion Weeks, and it cemented the heavily lined eye as the biggest trend of next season.

Backstage, acclaimed MUA Peter Philips, Creative & Image Director of Dior Makeup, and Guido Palau, Creative Director at Redken teamed up to create 70s inspired glam, a look curated by Dior Creative Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri.

The look featured heavily lined eyes styled in a number of ways, the hair individual to each model but inspired by Brigitte Bardot with an edge.

Philips used Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation as the base for the girls skin, touching up any blemishes and under eye circles with Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer.

As for the eyes, that level of blackness was achieved with not one, but two eye liners, Diorshow On Stage Liner in Matte Black and Diorshow Kohl to make the eye look inky black.

No blush or highlight was allowed apparently, it was matte skin, groomed brows and natural lip colour all the way.

For hair, and the many hair types and lengths faced by Palau and his team, there was a focus on individuality for the models.

As the Dior headscarves played such a role in the show’s looks, the hair needed to work with the overall look so reminiscent of Bardot in the 60s and 70s.

Where needed the hair team used Redken Extreme Play Safe to give texture, and Frizz Dismiss Leave-In Cream to tame flyaways (Peter Mark salons). The show in all was a triumph for Chiuri, the beauty look alone well worth best of all Fashion Weeks to date.
