Look, we love a man bag here at GQ. Lord knows we can get behind bags of all sizes and purposes (just ask our senior editor Christopher Riley who enjoys testing them out on his days off). But in terms of sheer convenience and practicality, it’s hard for any bag to top one made of nylon. Why? Because if you spill your water bottle inside it, or your coffee on it, it is by far the easiest to clean.
It also happens to be a more luxe step up from your cotton tote, but not as formal as your leather duffel.
It’s your briefcase and your gym bag and your carry-on luggage all in one. Toss whatever you need—laptop for work, sneakers for the gym, towels for the beach, extra fits for a trip—throw it over your shoulder (or around your waist), and be on your way. Those are all of the steps.
Givenchy’s new spring 2020 line offers a collection of said bags all stamped with the brand’s Heritage tag, underlined with a red line that takes its inspiration from Hubert de Givenchy, who used to sign his drawings with a Givenchy highlighted with a red line.
The iconic v-shapes on Clare Waight Keller’s silhouettes are translated on the bags with a discreet contrasted leather detail, and are available as a backpack, a bum bag, a duffle, and two new trendy shapes of cross-bodies. They also come in black and white.
Cop a well-made, nylon like, say, any of the below—and you’ll have it long enough for your kids to experience its benefits, too.
