As more designers and brands turn their focus to sustainability, they’re uncovering new, everyday items to put their spin on. Most recently is the fashion-forward reusable water bottle, which is no longer limited to the CamelBaks and Nalgenes that covered our desks in high school and college. Back in January, Maggie Rogers attended the 2020 Grammys in head-to-toe Chanel, carrying a gold water bottle in a custom carrier instead of a handbag.
Reusable water bottles have been on the rise in recent years, with brands like S’well and BKR making Instagram-friendly versions that are cute enough to make you actually want to lug them around all day. As Fashionista.com noted, the reusable water bottle market has been valued at $8.1 billion over the last two years and is expected to hit $10.6 billion by 2025.
Naturally, the fashion industry saw an opportunity. High-fashion reusable water bottles have now hit the market, as well as the runway. Collina Strada’s Fall 2020 show featured a $90 rhinestone bottle while Balenciaga’s fall 2019 show included a $950 crossbody pouch that carried a water bottle. Marine Serre had the accessory make a cameo at her runway shows during Paris Fashion Week, and for Dior’s menswear Pre-Fall 2020 show in Miami from December 2019, models toted around a logo-covered water bottle in collaboration with Stüssy. And people are buying them. Thom Browne’s stainless steel bottle with only his namesake brand stamped on for decoration has already sold out at Nordstrom.
While high-fashion water bottles are experiencing a rapid rise in popularity, drinking water will always be on trend. Below, some of the best designer water bottles and carriers to keep you hydrated in style.
