Spearheaded by Tom Ford, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has teamed up with Vogue magazine’s chief editor Anna Wintour to launch a new initiative in hopes of offering financial support to American designers during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Titled A Common Thread, the fashion fund aims to aid businesses and designers in the fashion industry who are affected by the crisis. Those who wish to make a contribution can also donate to the initiative by texting “THREAD” to 44-321 or by visiting the CFDA site.
A new Instagram post by CFDA details that the campaign is calling for fundraisers to help out during this uncertain time. “The goal is to raise both awareness and needed funds for those in the American fashion community,” its caption reads.
The platform will not only raise money, but also allow fashion industry members to tell their stories during the virus crisis.
The first post under the campaign comes from Kenneth Cole, who expressed that the “fashion retail industry has been devastated” from the COVID-19 wave.
