The David Owsley Museum of Art (DOMA) is hosting its annual Art in Bloom event on Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19. This free public floral exhibition will feature innovative floral creations inspired by significant works from the museum’s collection. The event will also include family-friendly activities such as docent-led tours, flower-related demonstrations, live music, and hands-on crafts for all ages.
The weekend will kick off with a free public reception on Saturday, May 18, from 5-7 p.m., featuring jazz, snacks, and a cash bar. The museum will have extended hours from 1-5 p.m. on both days, allowing visitors ample time to enjoy the floral displays and explore the museum’s special exhibition, “Beyond the Medici: The Haukohl Family Collection,” which has been extended to June 29.
Guests attending Art in Bloom can also participate in voting for their favorite floral arrangement, with the People’s Choice Award winner being announced on social media on Monday, May 20. The event is made possible by generous sponsors, including this year’s major sponsor, Ada Rose Design.
Proceeds from Art in Bloom will support the Friends of the David Owsley Museum of Art and the Ball State University Foundation in their efforts to fund the museum’s acquisitions, exhibitions, and programs. Parking is free on West Campus Drive in the Old Quad, making this event easily accessible to families in the region.
