BIPOD – Beirut International Platform of Dance is gearing up to celebrate its 20th anniversary from April 16th to April 21st, 2024. Founded by Omar Rajeh, BIPOD has been at the forefront of contemporary dance in Lebanon and globally for the past two decades. This year’s festival will take place against the vibrant backdrop of Beirut, embodying the theme, “To do. To share.”

Maqamat, the organization behind BIPOD, has played a vital role in shaping the performing arts scene in Lebanon since its inception in 2002. It has become a reference point for both local and international artists and audiences, positioning Beirut as a hub for contemporary dance in the Arab world. Through its diverse projects and inclusive approach, Maqamat has fostered unity and brought together voices from around the globe.

The 2024 edition of BIPOD promises a captivating program that transcends boundaries, featuring performances by local talents as well as regional and international artists. The festival’s success is attributed to its dedicated partners, including The Spanish Embassy, The Swiss Embassy, The British Council, and others, who have been instrumental in ensuring its global recognition.

This year, BIPOD introduces a fresh format with immersive performances in unconventional spaces across Beirut, such as Abroyan Factory/Union Marks, Station Beirut, Institut français du Liban, and Sursock Museum. The program includes a diverse lineup of events, including performances, workshops, after-performance talks, video dance screenings, studio presentations, audience engagement activities, and a conference meeting.

With over 40 artists coming together to present a new vision of dance and community, BIPOD 2024 promises an enriching experience for audiences, promoting cultural exchange and artistic dialogue both locally and internationally. Don’t miss this unique celebration of contemporary dance at locations across Beirut from April 16th to 21st, 2024.
