Central Nebraska Council on Alcoholism and Addictions to Host Free Professional Development Event

On Wednesday, September 3, the Central Nebraska Council on Alcoholism and Addictions will conduct a complimentary Lunch and Learn session aimed at professionals in the community. This event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at their headquarters located at 3204 College Street. Attendees can look forward to a light lunch provided by the Council, though participants are welcome to bring their own meals if they prefer.

The session, led by expert trainers Celeste Heaivilin Penner and Sherri Klentz, will delve into the 40 Developmental Assets Framework. This framework outlines critical strengths that can be assessed and cultivated within families, educational institutions, youth organizations, faith-based groups, and broader community environments. The focus of the training will center on the experiences, opportunities, and relationships essential for the resilience and overall development of children and adolescents.

Research shows that the presence of these developmental assets contributes significantly to the positive development of young people, enhancing their chances of success and mental well-being. The 40 Developmental Assets Framework includes various components, such as social skills, supportive relationships, and constructive use of time, which collectively foster youth resilience and empowerment. By understanding these assets, professionals can better guide the youth they serve, ensuring they have access to the necessary resources that promote healthy growth.

Pre-registration for the event is required and can be done by contacting Bonnie at officemanager@cncaa.net. Interested participants are encouraged to secure their spots early due to potential limitations in seating.
