UTRWD Employees Support Local Families with Thanksgiving Food Donation Drive
Lewisville, Texas – In November 2023, staff members from the Upper Trinity Regional Water District (UTRWD) participated in a charitable initiative aimed at supporting families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday season. The Human Resources (HR) department organized a food donation drive in collaboration with Friends of the Family, a local nonprofit agency dedicated to assisting individuals and families facing various challenges.
The food drive was a resounding success, with employees and their families coming together to gather donations. In total, they collected an impressive amount of food, sufficient to provide Thanksgiving meals for 50 local families. This initiative reflects UTRWD’s commitment not only to water conservation and management but also to community welfare and engagement.
Friends of the Family, established in 1980, works tirelessly to support families in crisis and help them achieve stability. Through their various programs, the organization addresses issues such as homelessness, domestic violence, and food insecurity, making a lasting impact on the communities they serve. The collaboration between UTRWD and Friends of the Family highlights the importance of local partnerships in addressing the needs of those experiencing hardship.
The Thanksgiving food donation drive is part of a broader trend among organizations in the Lewisville area to engage in community service and philanthropy, particularly during the holiday season. Many companies are increasingly recognizing their role in fostering a sense of community and contributing to the betterment of society. Programs such as these not only aid those in need but also encourage employees to become more involved in charitable activities, cultivating a spirit of giving within the organization.
As the holiday season approaches, acts of kindness like the UTRWD food drive serve as a poignant reminder of the impact that collective effort can have on individuals facing tough circumstances. The initiative reinforces the value of compassion and community support, especially during a time traditionally associated with gratitude and togetherness.
UTRWD extends its gratitude to all employees and community members who contributed to the success of this food drive. By coming together to support one another, we can build stronger, more resilient communities that reflect the shared values of kindness and generosity.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at UTRWD!
