Giuliano’s Deli: A Community Cornerstone in Lansdale
Lansdale, PA – Nestled within a quiet neighborhood along North Chestnut Street, Giuliano’s Deli stands as a hidden gem in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. While its location may render it somewhat inconspicuous, for a devoted clientele, this family-run establishment has evolved into an indispensable part of the North Penn community.
Originally established over four decades ago, Giuliano’s Deli was acquired by the DiPietro family, who have since transformed it into a vibrant hub for local residents. Co-owner Tami DiPietro highlighted the deli’s rich history, stating, “The store has been here for over 40 years… plenty of people were already familiar with the deli.” As the business approaches its seventh anniversary under the DiPietro leadership, the deli’s reputation continues to flourish, reflecting its deeper integration within the fabric of local life.
The DiPietro family, consisting of Tami and her husband, Bob, embarked on this venture out of a shared fervor for food and community engagement. The couple envisioned a long-term commitment to the deli, intending to cultivate the business alongside their children. Their son, Jake DiPietro, has taken a hands-on role, assisting after school. “Balancing school with work can get hard, but luckily my parents are the owners, so they cut me some slack with hours… working with your family just makes everything so much easier,” Jake shared.
What distinguishes Giuliano’s from its competitors is not only its culinary offerings but also the personal connections it fosters with its patrons. “For regular customers, we personalize things to what they need… we’ll happily tailor their orders,” Tami explained, underscoring the flexibility and attention to customer service that characterizes the deli.
The welcoming atmosphere at Giuliano’s has cultivated strong bonds with local families and students, many of whom visit frequently. As Tami noted, “We’re not corporate; we’re more like friends,” highlighting the deli’s appeal to those seeking a warm, familiar environment.
In addition to serving sustenance, Giuliano’s is committed to giving back to the community that supports it. The deli actively partners with the North Penn Marching Band and various local organizations through fundraising events. The DiPietro family also contributes to local youth sports teams and participates in regional parades and community gatherings. Tami remarked, “It’s always nice to give back and be present in the community that you live in.”
Despite its dedicated customer base, ensuring visibility is a notable challenge for the deli. Being somewhat removed from main thoroughfares like Main Street and Broad Street renders it less visible to passersby. “One to two times a week, someone will come in and say, ‘I never knew you were here,’” Tami disclosed, emphasizing the need for greater outreach.
Nevertheless, the DiPietro family remains resolute, fueled by their passion for quality food. “We make our own roast beef in house. We make our own chicken salad, our own tuna, and I do a lot of the baking,” Tami explained, highlighting their commitment to homemade offerings.
More than merely a deli, Giuliano’s has become a cornerstone of the Lansdale community through trust, care, and unwavering dedication to its patrons. As it continues to navigate the complexities of small business ownership, Giuliano’s Deli remains a beloved institution—a testament to the power of family, good food, and community spirit.
