Experience the wonders of the Arctic without leaving New York City at the upcoming after-hours celebration at the New York Public Library on Friday, March 15. From 7pm-10pm, guests can enjoy talks by the curators of the library’s new Arctic-themed exhibit, as well as music by Detroit DJ and producer Rimarkable, games, crafts, and more. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase to keep the party going.
The highlight of the event is the opening of the library’s new exhibit, “The Awe of the Arctic: A Visual History,” which features a 500-year survey of artistic depictions of the Arctic landscape. The artwork on display ranges from 16th-century illustrations to modern-day photographs that highlight the impact of climate change. In addition to the visual art, the exhibit includes 16mm films and presentations by international artists to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Arctic.
The New York Public Library is known for its free exhibitions, and the Arctic exhibit at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building is no exception. Located at 476 5th Avenue near Bryant Park, the pay-what-you-wish event (with a suggested donation) is open to guests aged 21 and over. Tickets can be purchased online, with limited availability at the door for those who prefer spontaneity. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to explore the Arctic right in the heart of NYC.
