The Heath Bookshop has unveiled the complete lineup for its inaugural The Heath Bookshop Literature and Music Festival, scheduled to take place in Kings Heath, Birmingham from April 18 to 21, 2024.
The festival, funded by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, will be a collaborative effort with the Hare & Hounds and children’s bookshop How Brave is the Wren. The program, now live with tickets available for purchase, promises four days of author events, music performances, and artistic creations highlighting the interplay between literature and music through various mediums like spoken word, film, dance, and sound.
Notable names on the program include Robin Ince, General Levy, the Bookshop Band, Mike Gayle, and Catherine O’Flynn, as well as Poetry on Demand and a special commission from Adèle Oliver featuring new works by Casey Bailey and Ryan Dre Sinclair. Tickets are currently on sale, and the full program can be found on The Heath Bookshop’s website.
Co-owners Catherine and Claire expressed their excitement about the festival, emphasizing the unique blend of music and literature that will be showcased. With musicians discussing their books and writers exploring the theme of music, the festival promises a dynamic experience for attendees.
Arts Council England’s Midlands area director, Peter Knott, commended the festival, which received over £19,000 in funding from National Lottery Project Grants. Knott praised the diverse line-up of creatives from the realms of music and literature set to grace Kings Heath in April.
