The European Film Festival is set to take place in Abu Dhabi from May 12 to 16, 2024. Organized by the European Union Delegation to the United Arab Emirates in collaboration with the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi, the event aims to promote cultural exchange and strengthen relations between the UAE and EU countries through cinema.

Featuring a selection of 10 unique European films from countries such as Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Slovenia, and Sweden, the festival will be held at the theatre of the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi. Entry to the festival is free, offering Emirati audiences a chance to experience the diversity of European culture and cinema while facilitating knowledge-sharing and expertise in the film industry.

In addition to film screenings, the festival will host a workshop on screenwriting and storytelling, providing an opportunity for emerging talents, students, and aspiring filmmakers to learn from a European film expert. This initiative aims to enhance cooperation between EU and UAE experts, promote cultural dialogue, and support local talent by sharing best practices and experiences.

H.E. Lucie Berger, EU Ambassador to the UAE, emphasized the significance of cinema in promoting cultural understanding and human connection. She praised the partnership with the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi, highlighting its role in preserving Emirati culture and fostering cultural exchange with EU countries.
