The first-ever Redcar KIte Festival is set to take place over Majuba Beach this weekend, showcasing the world’s largest inflatable kites in a spectacular aerial display. Organized by the Northern Kite Group and internationally renowned kite experts, the event will feature choreographed routines, flying frogs, sky-high snakes, daredevil dragons, and a variety of amazing inflatables.
Starting at 11am today and running through tomorrow, the festival will offer a range of activities for all ages, including beginners’ kite flying sessions, kite and windmill making workshops, beach art creations with artist James Brunt, live music, food vendors, and more. Additionally, attendees can explore the Yorkshire fossil festival, featuring art, science, heritage, and entertainment.
Duncan Brown from the Northern Kite Group expressed excitement about bringing this unique experience to Redcar, highlighting how kites can teach us about flight physics, wind dynamics, and even power generation. The festival will showcase a diverse range of kites, from huge inflatable characters to traditional designs, as well as sport and stunt kite flying to music.
Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event on the seaside, offering a blend of art, science, and entertainment for all to enjoy.
