A Legacy of Compassion: AccuCare Home Health Care Transitioning Leadership

For over three decades, AccuCare Home Health Care of St. Louis has remained a pillar in the community, dedicated to providing home health care services marked by compassion and professionalism. Founded by Jacque Phillips, who initially set out to create an environment where individuals could experience peace and dignity in their own homes, the organization has flourished under her stewardship. Now, as Phillips prepares to step back from daily operations, her daughter, Dana Moulton, is poised to lead the family-run business into a new era, while honoring her mother’s legacy.

Jacque Phillips’ journey into home health care was driven by personal experiences. As a single mother and registered nurse, she cared for her own parents during their final days at home. This intimate journey inspired her to establish AccuCare, with the vision of offering dignified in-home care that extends beyond the scope of traditional services offered by Medicare. Starting from a modest home-based operation, Phillips has built AccuCare into a trusted, full-service provider, known for its specialized private-pay services. In addition to home care, the company has diversified its operations to include event medical services, reinforcing its presence at high-profile locations, including Busch Stadium, while ensuring the health and safety of guests.

Dana Moulton, a third-generation nurse, returns to St. Louis after beginning her career as an ICU nurse in Chicago. She has since been actively engaged in AccuCare, learning the intricacies of the business, from case management to finance. “Watching my mom grow this business and the respect she garners is incredibly inspiring,” Dana reflects. She envisions expanding AccuCare’s clinical services, emphasizing the essential role of skilled nursing staff in home health care, particularly in an era where families are often geographically dispersed.

Moulton intends to enhance the company’s existing event medical services, ensuring clients and community members have access to immediate medical attention when necessary. “Our aim is to maintain the dignity and safety of our clients while elevating their independence,” she elaborates.

As Moulton steps into her leadership role, Jacque is intentionally allowing her daughter space for creative expression and decision-making within the organization. “I’ve moved my office away and given Dana the flexibility to lead. She is introducing fresh ideas and her own unique personality to AccuCare,” Jacque states proudly.

Although the baton is being passed, the core philosophy remains unchanged. Both Phillips and Moulton emphasize that the ethos of AccuCare is not merely business—it is a dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families. “What my mom instilled in me is paramount,” Dana affirms. “This is about helping people, a mission that has defined us for years.”

As AccuCare embarks on this pivotal transition, the bond between mother and daughter serves as an important cornerstone. With Jacque’s legacy illuminating the path and Dana’s innovative vision ready to shape the future, AccuCare is poised to continue its mission of compassionate care that has resonated throughout the St. Louis community for over three decades.
