Kettle Moraine YMCA Unveils New Discovery Center Playground Thanks to National Exchange Bank Foundation Donation
West Bend, WI — The Kettle Moraine YMCA, located at 1111 W. Washington St., has announced the grand opening of its new Discovery Center Playground, a project made possible through a generous donation from the National Exchange Bank Foundation. This initiative marks a significant enhancement to the community’s recreational facilities, catering to the developmental needs of children aged infant to three years.
The newly established playground features a robust play structure designed with safety in mind, including a poured-in-place rubber surface that minimizes injury risks while allowing for inclusive play experiences. A retaining wall has also been constructed to address previous safety concerns stemming from the old playground’s proximity to protected wetlands. The outdated structure had faced scrutiny due to a considerable drop-off that posed risks not only to children but to the natural habitat surrounding it.
Aaron Schmidt, YMCA District Executive, emphasized the necessity of the upgrade, noting in a recent statement, “The old playground had significant safety concerns that needed immediate attention. This new facility represents our commitment to providing a safe and engaging environment for the youngest members of our community.”
The National Exchange Bank Foundation’s involvement was pivotal in bringing this project to fruition.
