The Johnson Heritage Post in Grand Marais is currently showcasing an exhibit called Species of Special Concern, featuring the artwork of Minnesota artist Tanya Piatz. The exhibit will be on display from April 26 to May 19, with Piatz also set to give an artist talk on Thursday, May 16 at 5 p.m.
As a self-taught artist, Piatz focuses on capturing conservation needs globally through her art. Drawing inspiration from her personal observations of the environment, research, and conservation initiatives, she aims to foster a deeper connection between individuals and the natural world. By raising awareness about species in need of conservation efforts, Piatz hopes to encourage habitat restoration and inspire others to take action.
