The future of the Opole Festival was uncertain at the end of last year, with calls from both internet users and artists to depoliticize the event after previous controversies. Opole’s president, Arkadiusz Wi¶niewski, even called for a meeting with new TVP authorities to discuss necessary changes for the festival to move forward.

Looking ahead to Opole 2024, the new authorities of Telewizja Polska have decided to revamp the festival with a diverse lineup of performers. Tomasz Sygut emphasized the aim of uniting artists who have previously avoided association with TVP.

Excitingly, this year’s festival will feature the return of the Premier competition, where participants will vie for two prizes. One will be awarded based on viewer votes, while a jury selected by Telewizja Polska will decide the second winner. Interested participants can sign up for the competition at www.festiwalopole.tvp.pl until April 14, 2024, at 23:00.

Additionally, the recruitment for the Debuts competition is currently open, with two winners to be chosen. Applications will be accepted until March 24, 2024, at 23:00. The National Festival of Polish Song in Opole is scheduled to take place from May 31 to June 2 this year, promising a diverse and exciting lineup for festival-goers.
