Norwegian progressive metal band Circus Maximus is set to make a comeback after being on a hiatus since 2019. The band, known for their unique blend of symphonic and power metal influences, is gearing up for ProgPower USA XXIII 2024. They are also working on new music to be released later this year.

Lead vocalist Michael Eriksen expressed his excitement about getting back to writing music, citing the upcoming ProgPower USA as a major motivation for the band. Bassist Glen Møllen echoed this sentiment, stating that the break was necessary but now they are re-energized and ready to take the band to the next level.

Drummer Truls Haugen mentioned that the hiatus gave him the opportunity to explore other musical endeavors, but now he is thrilled to be returning to the stage with Circus Maximus. Guitarist Mats Haugen highlighted the significance of ProgPower USA in the band’s history, describing it as their stepping stone.

Drawing inspiration from bands like Symphony X and Dream Theater, Circus Maximus brings a blend of AOR-inspired vocal melodies with technical and heavy progressive metal music. With a career spanning over two decades, the band has achieved critical success with multiple studio albums and live performances across the globe.

Circus Maximus will headline ProgPower USA XXIII in September 2024, with plans for additional live dates to be announced soon. The band consists of Michael Eriksen on vocals, Glen Møllen on bass, Lasse Finbråten on keyboards, Mats Haugen on guitar, and Truls Haugen on drums. Fans can stay updated on the band’s website and streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
