This morning, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays celebrated the launch of their brand-new route to Malta from Belfast International Airport. The inaugural flight marks the beginning of the leading leisure airline and UK’s largest tour operator operating flights and holidays to Malta from Belfast International Airport until October 31, 2024.

The introduction of weekly Thursday services to the Mediterranean destination means that customers and independent travel agents in the region now have access to the popular destination and neighbouring island of Gozo for the first time.

Passengers at the airport were treated to branded cupcakes at check-in as part of the celebrations for the first flight. Northern Ireland holidaymakers now have the opportunity to explore Malta’s historic towns, blissful marinas, and the enchanting island of Gozo.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are offering an impressive Summer ’24 program from Belfast International Airport with 20 sun and city destinations available across the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, and Europe. This provides customers and independent travel agents with a wide range of choices for booking their summer getaways to their favorite destinations.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, expressed his delight at seeing the first flight to Malta take off and emphasized the strong demand for flights and holidays to Malta and Gozo from Northern Ireland. Alan Borg, Malta International Airport’s CEO, also highlighted the importance of the new route connecting Belfast to Malta as part of the airport’s efforts to enhance connectivity with the UK.

Tolene van der Merwe, Director of Visit Malta for the UK and Ireland, welcomed the new route from Belfast International Airport, stating that more visitors now have the opportunity to experience Malta’s attractions, including historical sites, delicious cuisine, beaches, water sports, and sunshine.
