Actress Meryl Streep is set to be honored with the prestigious Palme d’Or at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, confirming her attendance at the 77th edition’s opening night ceremony. This will be Streep’s first appearance at Cannes since 1989 when she accompanied the film “Evil Angels a Cry in the Dark” and won the award for best actress.
Throughout her illustrious career, Streep has had two other films featured at Cannes – Woody Allen’s “Manhattan” in 1979, which played Out of Competition, and Tommy Lee Jones’ “The Homesman” in 2014, which was in Competition.
The Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to run from May 14 to 25, providing an opportunity for cinema enthusiasts to celebrate Streep’s outstanding contributions to the film industry.
