French soprano Natalie Dessay is preparing for her highly anticipated recital debut at the Auditori AXA in Barcelona on March 5, 2024, as part of the Lied Festival Victoria de los Ángeles. Collaborating with pianist Philippe Cassard, Dessay will pay tribute to the legendary soprano Victoria de los Ángeles.

The recital program will feature an array of works by female composers such as Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, and Alma Mahler in the first half. The second half promises a delightful selection of pieces by Claude Debussy, Jules Massenet, Francis Poulenc, Ernest Chausson, and Charles Gounod.

In a significant gesture, the auditorium will officially be named Auditori-Sala Victoria de los Ángeles, as approved by the Districte de Les Corts – Ajuntament de Barcelona. This change aims to honor the legacy of the esteemed soprano.

Natalie Dessay, once acclaimed as one of the top sopranos globally, graced opera stages worldwide before retiring from that realm in 2013. Planning to conclude her classical music performances in 2025, Dessay’s upcoming recital is sure to be a poignant and memorable occasion for fans and music enthusiasts alike.
