Idlewild & SoakZone in Ligonier, Pennsylvania is getting ready for an exciting 2024 season with a major improvement project in the beloved Story Book Forest. As the park gears up for its 147th season, it will also introduce an expanded operating schedule, new special events, and entertainment for all guests to enjoy.
Story Book Forest, known for its character scenes from fairy tales and nursery rhymes along a winding path through a real forest, will showcase several enhancements and returning elements in the upcoming season. Some of the highlights include a multi-year paving project to improve accessibility, the return of “Rub-a-Dub-Dub Three Men in a Tub” with a brand-new tub, and the revival of “Jack and the Beanstalk” with new elements.
Additionally, there will be restoration and improvements to iconic attractions such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ cottage and the Good Ship Lollipop. The park’s lake will also undergo a refresh, ensuring its picturesque charm is maintained.
General Manager Tim Heger expressed excitement for the upcoming season, emphasizing the park’s commitment to providing a fun and playful experience for families. Along with enhancements to Story Book Forest, other areas of the park will see upgrades, such as new bumper cars at Skooters, a restoration project for the Carousel in Olde Idlewild, and an upgraded SoakZone Gift Shop.
The 2024 season at Idlewild will also feature new elements and enhanced entertainment for popular events like Kids Fest and HALLOWBOO!. The Halloween event will have its longest run yet, starting on September 14 and running weekends through October 27. Idlewild will kick off its 2024 season on Saturday, May 18, with SoakZone opening on Saturday, May 25. With a focus on continual improvement and innovation, Idlewild & SoakZone is set to delight guests of all ages in the upcoming season.
