French artist Laure Prouvost’s major solo exhibition “Oui Move In You” will be showcased at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) in Melbourne from March 23 to June 10, 2024.
The exhibition will feature a collection of new commissions and works spanning the past decade, highlighting Prouvost’s imaginative and often whimsical artistic style. The show will delve into themes of liberation, imagination, connection, and the relationship between humans and nature.
“Oui Move In You” pays homage to influential figures of the past while exploring the roles of family, social spaces, and the natural world in contemporary society. Visitors can expect to be taken on a journey from the underground to a skyward celebration through artworks like “Wantee” and “Gathering Ho Ma, The glaneuse.”
The exhibition will also explore sensuality, desire, and nature’s beauty through pieces like “Four for sea beauties,” “Swallow,” and “Into all that is here.” It will culminate in the installation “Every Sunday Grandma,” leading viewers to contemplate weightlessness, lightness, and gravity.
In addition to the exhibition, ACCA will release a limited-edition artist’s book titled “H Oma Je” featuring contributions from Prouvost and other artists. The exhibition is curated by Max Delany and Annika Kristensen, promising a captivating and thought-provoking experience for art enthusiasts and visitors alike.
