The 41st annual Miami Film Festival is set to honor Emmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph and director, writer, and producer Michael Showalter during the event running from April 5 to April 14.

Ralph will receive the prestigious Precious Gem Award on April 13, following a discussion about her illustrious career. Showalter will be presented with the Art of Light Award on April 8, following a screening of his latest film, “The Idea of You.”

Miami Film Festival Programming Director Lauren Cohen expressed excitement about honoring these two talented individuals, citing their outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry. Ralph’s Emmy win for supporting actress in a comedy series in 2022 for her role in “Abbot Elementary” has solidified her status as a respected actress.

Showalter, known for his work on projects like “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” and “The Big Sick,” will see his film “The Idea of You,” featuring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine, released by Amazon on May 2. He also directed and produced Hulu’s “The Dropout,” which received six Emmy nominations.

Other honorees at the festival include Molly Ringwald, Tom Hiddleston, Tony Goldwyn, Alison Brie, and Greg Kwedar. The event will kick off with the screening of “Thelma” starring June Squibb and close with “Ezra” directed by Tony Goldwyn.
