Mount St. Joseph University is excited to announce the upcoming Solo Strings Festival on June 8, 2024, taking place at the Williams Recital Hall. This event welcomes string students from preschool through high school to showcase their musical talents in front of professional adjudicators and receive valuable feedback to enhance their skills.
Participation in the Solo Festival is a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence in their playing and gain insights from experienced musicians. Students planning to perform are reminded that their piece should not exceed 3 minutes in length. They should also be prepared to play a major scale, preferably two octaves, and submit a physical copy of their piece with any cuts clearly marked for the judges’ review. While performing with accompaniment is encouraged, it is not mandatory. Participants seeking accompaniment must arrange for their own accompanist.
The performances will be held at the Recital Hall, with check-in at the Lobby of Recital Hall. Practice rooms will be available for warmups before performances. For any inquiries or assistance, please reach out to Dr. Minhwa Kim at minhwa.kim@msj.edu.
Please note that the deadline to register for the event is May 21st, 2024. Don’t miss this chance to showcase your talent and receive valuable feedback to further your musical journey!
